Staying in one place can make a big difference for big groups

We recently took a trip to Door County, Wisconsin. We went with a larger group of family and had a wonderful time. Door County is a magical place, and it was so fun to get back there and see how it has grown and also how it has stayed largely the same. Being able to catch up with family, take hikes, and experience different adventures together was a wonderful time.

Finding accommodations for the trip was not an easy process. We certainly made it work, but we ended up needing to split the group three ways to stay in three different spaces. Each of the three families rented different rooms or condos in order to be able to fit in the various bed availabilities. Although we made the most of it, this particular trip reminded us again how much of a game-changer being able to all stay in the same space can be.

Here at the St. Joe Overlook vacation rental in Southwest Michigan, we have plenty of space to accommodate groups of 16 guests or more. The most we have ever had all spend the night here was 54! Now, that was quite a crowded night, and we had people literally sleeping on the patio. But, we use that story to illustrate how spread out the vacation home truly is and how we try to maximize the number of guests we can comfortably sleep here.

We have 4 official bedrooms upstairs, 2 with King and Twin beds, 1 with a King bed, and 1 with 3 King beds and 1 Twin bed. We also have 2 additional sleeping spaces upstairs that have Twin beds. In the basement, we have 2 sleeping spaces, 1 with a Twin bed and 1 with two Full size futons. That’s a lot of numbers and beds, but we have found it helpful for some to see a floorplan of our layout and approximate spacing of where everything is.

Being able to not only spend the day enjoying adventures all together, but also to stay in one place for the evening’s activities brings a whole new level of enjoyment to your vacation. Having the space for 16 or more to sleep in one home eliminates the need for early morning or late night travel back to hotel rooms or different places to sleep. And we love that we are able to offer this vacation home to so many as a place to gather together either as family or friends or both!
